Avanthika Vuppala AV / 2026

I’m Avanthika Vuppala, an Aerospace Engineering student at Rutgers University.

What draws me to aerospace engineering is the challenge of designing systems that do more than work in theory. I’m interested in how engineering decisions affect real-world performance, especially when precision, efficiency, reliability, and integration all matter.

I enjoy thinking about engineering at both the component and system level: how individual mechanical, thermal, electrical, structural, and control elements interact to create a complete aerospace system.

My strongest interests are in aerospace propulsion, robotics, controls, and integrated systems design.

Exploring propulsion systems, performance, efficiency, and future spacecraft technologies.

03 Robotics & Autonomous Systems

Applying sensing, actuation, autonomy, and embedded systems to complex engineering problems.

04 Guidance, Navigation & Control

Learning how aerospace systems sense their environment, determine their state, and control their motion.

05 Mechanical Design

Developing practical components, assemblies, and mechanisms through CAD, analysis, and engineering design.

06 Materials & Structures

Understanding how material selection, composite behavior, and structural design influence aerospace performance.

I learn best by building, testing, analyzing, and iterating.

My engineering projects have given me experience with CAD modeling, simulation, materials analysis, embedded systems, experimental testing, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary team design.

I’m especially interested in projects where the engineering process moves from an initial concept to analysis, design decisions, testing, and an improved final system.

I’m working toward a career developing advanced aerospace systems through mechanical design, propulsion, robotics, and controls.

I want to continue strengthening my technical foundation through engineering projects, research, internships, and hands-on design work.

Long term, I’m interested in contributing to aircraft, spacecraft, propulsion, autonomous vehicles, and robotic exploration systems where multiple disciplines have to work together reliably.

Creativity has always been part of how I think and work.

Outside of engineering, I enjoy crocheting, painting, drawing, trying new cuisines, designing 3D nail art, working with oil pastels, and building small origami structures.

I like creating things with both technical and artistic constraints, and that same mindset carries into the way I approach engineering design problems.
